To use Hello Clever’s payment and cashback features, you need a merchant account. This page covers the two ways to get an account, how to choose between a live and sandbox environment, and the full five-step sign-up process.

How to get a merchant account

There are two ways to create a Hello Clever merchant account:
  • Invitation from Hello Clever: If you have been in contact with the Hello Clever team, you may receive an invitation email. Follow the link in the email, set a password, and you will have direct access to the Merchant Portal. Reach out to the Hello Clever team if you would like to discuss your use case or request an invite.
  • Direct sign-up: You can sign up independently through the merchant dashboard. Complete the registration form and the Hello Clever team will review your application. The steps below guide you through this process.

Live vs. sandbox accounts

Hello Clever offers two environments:
  • Live account: Use this for production, real transactions, real funds, and real cashback. Sign up at merchant.helloclever.co.
  • Sandbox account: Use this to test integrations, explore the API, and simulate transactions without affecting real funds. Sign up at cleverhub.co.
If you are new to Hello Clever, start with the sandbox environment. It lets you test your integration fully before going live, and you can transition to a production account when you are ready.

Sign-up process

Enter your email

Visit the Merchant Signup page for a live account, or the Sandbox Signup page for a sandbox account.Enter your email address and click Continue.

Fill out the sign-up form

Complete the registration form with your details:
  • Email address: The same email you entered in step 1.
  • First and last name: Your full name.
  • Phone number: Include the country code.
  • Password: Create a secure password, then re-enter it to confirm.
  • Integration type: Select how you plan to connect Hello Clever to your platform.
Integration type options include:
  • Tyro POS Cashback: For in-store cashback via Tyro terminals. You can request a new Tyro service or migrate from an existing terminal provider.
  • WooCommerce, Shopify, or other e-commerce platforms: For online store integrations.
  • Other: If you are unsure or need multiple integration types, choose this option. The Hello Clever team will help you identify the right setup.
After selecting your integration type, fill in your business details:
  • Business name: Your registered business name.
  • Primary business domain: Your website URL (optional).
  • Country: Your business location.
  • ABN: Your Australian Business Number, if applicable.
  • Business address: Your registered business address.
Finally, select your estimated monthly transaction volume: less than 1,000, 1,000–10,000, or more than 10,000.
Accurate business details help Hello Clever verify your account promptly and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Accept the merchant agreement

Review the Hello Clever Merchant Services Agreement. When you are ready:
  1. Check the box confirming you agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
  2. Click Accept to proceed.

Confirm your email

Hello Clever will send a confirmation email to the address you provided.
  1. Open the email and click the Confirm your email link.
  2. If the email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder. If you still cannot find it, contact the Hello Clever support team.

Await approval

After you verify your email, you will see a confirmation message indicating that the Hello Clever Growth Team will review your application and contact you to finalise the setup.
Approval is not instant. The Hello Clever team reviews each application and will reach out with next steps once your account is ready.
Once your account is approved, your next step is to obtain your integration keys so you can connect your store or application to Hello Clever.
