How real-time payments enable instant cashback

Instant cashback is only possible because Hello Clever processes payments in real time. When a customer pays, funds move immediately from their account to yours. That instant confirmation is what lets Hello Clever credit cashback to the customer’s wallet in the same moment, with no delays and no batch processing.
If a customer pays by card, cashback is credited once funds settle from the issuing bank. The reward still arrives promptly, but it is tied to card settlement timelines rather than immediate NPP confirmation.

Technical flow

Customer initiates payment

The customer chooses a real-time payment method (for example, PayID) and enters their linked bank identifier at checkout.

Fund transfer to your account

The payment processes through the New Payments Platform (NPP), moving funds instantly from the customer’s account to yours.

Once funds are confirmed in your account, Hello Clever’s system automatically initiates the cashback process.

Ensure your venue uses Tyro EFTPOS terminals. Only Tyro hardware supports Hello Clever’s real-time in-store cashback integration.

Log in to the Hello Clever Merchant Portal, set your cashback rate, eligibility criteria, and campaign duration.

Hello Clever pushes campaign details to your Tyro terminals in real time. Each eligible purchase validates and processes cashback according to your campaign settings, with no manual tracking required.
